Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael
John 1:43-51

John 1:43
The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee.  Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."

Let's take a look at this line, looking at Jesus, Hedecided, well then, Hedecides! LOL!!  And Jesus finds Philip and the first thing He said to him. "Follow me."  Was like no questions at all, just follow me!

John 1:44-45
Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethasadia.  Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets who wrote - Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

Here allready the word of Christ is spreading.  Jesus barely said anything to them or about Himself and they knew He was the Messiah!  Praise God!

John 1:46
Nazareth!  Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked.
 "Come and see," said Philip.

What's so good about Nazareth?  Even from the weirdest or evil places, God can do His work.  And then Philip was starting to talk like Jesus by saying, "Come and see."

John 1:47
Where Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false."

Here Jesus is giving a little hint to Nathanael of how much He knows about him, and of course He gave him a complement.

John 1:48
"How do you know me?" Nathanael asked.
Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you."

Jesus saw him and is very observant!

John 1:49
Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."

Nathanael allready identified Jesus, so quick!

John 1:50-51
Jesus said, "You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree.  You shall see greater things than that."  He then added, "I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

Kinda creepy if Jesus is always looking at you.  Ever felt when you know you've done something bad and something in your heart tells you, why you do that, it's wrong!  Well that's God's Spirit inside of you, and He knows where you are and what your doing.  And Jesus is practically saying to them, take a look at me and greater things will be seen!

From the Book of Harry

Parable of the Kite
1 The kite soars in the winds, up high near the heavens, bounded by it's far stretched strings which are grasped by the one who is flying the kite.  2] If the winds stop blowing, the kite will fall to the ground, certainly with a bang!  If the strings were sawed off, then how will the kite even get up off the ground? Impossible for it to be so!  3] And if the one holding the kite happens to set it free, the path of the kite will be in confusion not knowing where it will land. 4] These things are needed to make this kite stay upright on it's path to the heavens.  You've been hearing these things of God and yet still don't ask for insight?
5]
For it is written:

"The wind blows wherever it pleases.
  You hear its sound,
but you cannot tell where it comes from
           or where it is going.
So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. (a)"

6] You are the kite and the Spirit of God moves you like the wind.  Do not stand like a tree and resist it, but instead be like it's leaves blowing in the wind.  7] Without the wind, you will surely crash into the ground not able to fly unless mended by the one who flew the kite.  8] And the strings that holds you to the man holding the kite is Jesus, for it is written:

"For there is one God and one mediator between God ane men, the man Christ Jesus. (b)"

9] By now you shall allready know the last thing that holds this kite to fly, and that is the Father.  10] For the Father showed us the greatest glue that can hold all things together.  11]And this great glue is love, and with this love comes eternal life.  12] And if we don't come with sincere and repented hearts, then how will His love, which is in his hands, embrace us if we don't bother to stick by it?

(a) - John 3:8
(b) - 1 Timothy 2:5

Relationships: Are you Ready?
Christian Perspective

10 Ways to know if your even close to being ready!

1 - First of all, prayer.  Have you prayed to God about your feelings.  Did you ask the Lord, "Are these feelings from you?  If not take them away in the name of Jesus!"  In other words, is it approved from God?  The relationship better not be focused on looks and feelings, although it is part of it, that's not the basis of it.

2 - Next, being in a relationship is stating that your in the light of hope of marriage.  If it isn't, then don't even bother!

3 - Are you Spiritually ready?  Devoted to prayer, devoted to daily bread, devoted to worship, suffering for the Gospel, devoted to God!  And if any of these is not so, you better be asking for His Spirit, asking for it.  Seeking for God's Kingdom and walking under it's light.  So all you can do is prepare yourself for your future mate.

4 - Have you found God's love?  Realizing the type of love he has for you from all corners.  His unfailing love, the greatest love.  Do you have that love that moves in you?

5 - Does the person you want to hook up with have the characteristics of 3 and 4?  If not, then you can not do anything but pray.  Don't bother to try to helping them out, just prepare yourselves and they will prepare themselves.  If they aren't ready then move on, definitely not the right person for you!

6 - Family  - Does your family even know about the person?  Not just your parents, family members.  If one parent doesn't approve of him/her then there is no agreement from God either.  If they approve, how about your Spiritual family?  Ask the same thing, no agreement, then not from God.

7 - Both shall have the same levels of faith with the guy a little spiritually stronger.  The reason is this, you don't want a person half-way into the church or you will be equally yoked and you'll fall away from God.  If the girl is strong, then the family will be led spiritually by the woman which in 1 Timothy 2:12 says quite different.

8 - If you were told to wait a year and to seek God, could you do it for a year?  Or will you be the one saying, I can't even wait a day to go by!  In Genesis 29, Jacob waited 14 years because of his love for Rachel and during those 14 years he had to work for Rachel's father.  Ha! Now that's love.

9 - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, gotta ask yourself these questions
    - Are you patient to each other?
    - Are you kind to each other?
    - Are you rude to each other?
    - Are you self - seeking?
    - Are you easily angered?
    - Are you truthful to each other?
    - Do you protect each other?
    - Do you trust one another?

10 - 1 Cor 13:6 - Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth.
    - Do you rejoice in the truth?  Can you have fellowship together, and read God's word, and worship and find that joy in Christ together?  Can you pray together or do you have wicked thoughts, and only in it for yourself?

Jesus' First Disciples
John 1:35-42

John 1:35
The next day John was there again with two of his disciples.

John was there again. LoL!!  There again??  It was as if he never left, but now he brought friends.

John 1:36
When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"

Says about Jesus and being the Lamb of God,  maybe perhaps Jesus didn't see him the first time or John is still in joy seeing the Lamb of God.

John 1:37-38
When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.  Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?"
They said, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"

Here, the two disciples followed Jesus.  Running behind the trees and being sneaky not to be seen by hiding, once Jesus turns around He knows that your following!  He calls to them saying, "What do you want?" Like saying "You want something from me."  Curious about Him they wanted to know where he was staying.

John 1:39
"Come," he replied, "and you will see."
So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him.  It was about the tenth hour.

When Jesus said, "Come, and you will see," the disciples were kept in suspense, and the whole day was spent with Him!  Must have been fun spending a day with God!

John 1:40
Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.

Following Jesus!

John 1:41
The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ).

First thing he did was to tell his family. "Hey bro, there's a little something something I gotta show you..." Allready they knew it was the Christ!

John 1:42
And he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John.  You will be called Cephas." (which, when translated, is Peter).

And he brought him to Jesus.  Brought anyone to Jesus lately?

Jesus the Lamb of God
John 1:29-34

John 1:29
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

This is crazy, how did John who Jesus was, he saw Him and just automatically knew!  Also here, Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!  Takes away! How great is that!

Genesis 22:14
So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide.  And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."

This is to show that God will provide the sacrifice for our sins, cause we can not make it on our own!  Back then, they didn't sacrifice their weekest calfs, but instead their strongest ones.  Jesus is the ultimate Lamb!

John 1:30
This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'

Telling to the people and also to the Pharasiees, "Go and try untie his sandals!"

John 1:31
I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel."

The reason for baptizing so that He could be revealed.  Different ways the Lord will use to reveal himself.

John 1:32-33
Then John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.  I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.'

Ah, the Holy Spirit came down on Him.  That's how he knew! John can just see the radiance of the Spirit flowing through Jesus.  You are physically baptized with water, but it is you that will be baptized by the Holy Spirit.

John 1:34
I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God."

Just testifying that Jesus is the Son of God.  Have you seen and testified about the Son of God??
